Lecturer, Department of Computer Science
Wen Ma has a B.S. in Software Engineering from Shandong University, an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Hong Kong, and a Ph.D. in the Department from PAED in LKS Medicine Faculty at the University of Hong Kong. Her areas of expertise involve bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, disease risk prediction, computer science and statistical analysis. During her research, she worked on applying computer knowledge, mainly artificial intelligence, to help prognosis and diagnosis of complex diseases, such as cancer and SLE. In collaboration with Queen Mary Hospital, significant improvements have been achieved in both early diagnosis and prognosis of complex diseases (e.g., risk prediction for the development of systemic lupus erythematosus) compared to traditional methods (polygenic risk scoring models). In life, she enjoys artistic activities and is the president of the artistic society affiliated with HKU PGSA in 2021-2022.
